BME NEWS & EVENTS

URI Biomedical Engineering Events

It's that time of year again.  The bi-annual biomedical engineering party will be held on Novemer 9th from 6 to 8:30.  All biomedical engineering majors, and alumni, are welcome as we will enjoy the ever popular Chinese buffet with Sesame Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Lo Mein, Fried Rice, Chicken Wings, and Egg Rolls.  This semester, Fall 2006, we will be raffling an Ipod Nano, with URI biomedical engineering engraved in the back.  Tickets for the raffle are $3 each or 2 for $5,but the buffet is free!

URI Biomedical Engineering Program wins two awards for presentations at the 32nd Northeast Bioengineering Conference!  The awards were in the Graduate presentations category.  One award was given for a podium presentation and the other for a poster presentation.  Of the 6 graduate awards available, URI won two.

We submitted a total of 10 papers to the Northeast Bioengineering Conference, being held in Easton, PA, at Lafayette College, April 1st and 2nd, 2006.  The URI Biomedical Engineering Program has the largest representation of any school at the conference.

The often imitated but never duplicated bi-annual biomedical engineering party will be March 30th.  All biomedical engineering majors are welcome as we will enjoy the ever popular Chinese buffet with Sesame Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Lo Mein, Fried Rice, Chicken Wings, and Egg Rolls.  This semester, Fall 2005, we will be raffling an Ipod Nano.  Tickets for the raffle are $3 each or 2 for $5.  You do not need to buy a ticket for the buffet - It's on Dr. Sun!!

The BME program will submit a total of 6 posters to the Graduate Research Week competition.  In addition, the program is also responsible for two Intellectual Property posters.  Research Week will be held October 17-20, 2005.  Click here for information regarding Research Week.

The undergraduate enrollment for the biomedical engineering program nears 100.  We are among the largest engineering disciplines in the college of engineering.  There is strong support for the formation of a department of Biomedical Engineering and to allocate resources to accommodate the interest in the program.  If you would like to know how you can help, please contact Pr. Ying Sun at sun@ele.uri.edu or Pr. Fred Vetter at vetter@ele.uri.edu
